This is the gallery & studio of Wildlife and Landscape artist Eleanor Ludgate and a real treasure for lovers of fine art.

You can see an ever changing exhibition of Eleanor’s original paintings in both oil and watercolour together with prints and cards.

The gallery also displays sculptures, bronzes, ceramics etc by Westcountry artists and has an in house Picture Framing service.

Eleanor can often be seen at work in her studio and welcomes visitors.

The Three Hares Trail was created by Eleanor and takes you to find the 17 Churches in the area with this mythical symbol carved in their roof bosses; in St Michael’s Church in Chagford there are two. Trail leaflets can be collected from the gallery.

    A review from Trip Advisor

    The Jewel of Chagford

Wow, you know when you are travelling and you come across a wonderful little hotel, or amazing family restaurant, well The Three Hares gallery is one of those such places. It must be the gem of the town.
The gallery itself was like a Tardis with wall to wall stunning oils and vibrant watercolours. Having said that, it is so much more than just a gallery, with the artist busy painting away within the gallery to give it a very warm and welcoming feel. The artist (Eleanor Ludgate) took the time to stop and to really engage with us, where her passion and creativity shone through in our conversation. Some of her art really does take your breath away and brings meaning to the words “fine art”, and well worth the look in this labyrinth. I can honestly say I am now the very proud owner of couple of her amazing paintings.
This is has to be one of those places you MUST visit, the local residents are so lucky to have this right on their door step, but I guess they already know that.
This amazing gallery was first opened in 1967 and has been running for over 50 years!
