Catherine Forshall Exhibition at Monks Withecombe

'Bring the garden into the house.'  This was the commission given to Catherine Forshall in 2013 by a keen gardener, who had one of Catherine's fluid, marine paintings of fish. Over the next year, Catherine sketched and painted different aspects of the collector's beautiful Cornish garden for the house which was being much enlarged.  "It was a delightful project, utterly enjoyable.  So often in your own garden you see things requiring attention that you do not have the time to sit and meditate upon it, to really look. I love flowers, gardens, and plants. Although I am better known for the marine subjects, I used to paint flowers, vines and vegetables and this project reawakened an old love. I so enjoyed it that I decided to do more and these are they."
