Art comes home to Dartmoor

Art comes home to Dartmoor

For no fewer than eight of the celebrated mythic artists taking part in Green Hill Arts summer exhibition, Widdershins come from this pretty moorland town.

The distinguished line-up of artists includes Alan Lee, the conceptual designer for The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings; Brian Froud, creator of internationally best-selling books including Good Faeries/Bad Faeries; Wendy Froud, who is famed for her fantasy figures - she sculpted Yoda for the film The Empire Strikes Back; and David Wyatt who has illustrated hundreds of books including those by Philip Pullman, J.R.R. Tolkien and Terry Pratchett.

Other notable Chagford artists showing their work at Widdershins include Virginia Lee, Rima Staines, Terry Windling and Hazel Brown, whose exquisite miniature boxes filled with tiny faerie belongings will be sure to transport you into the world of enchantment.

Whether you are staying in Chagford or just visiting, be sure to pop down the road to Moretonhampstead to see this simply magical exhibition. Alongside there is a programme including artists' talks, compelling storytelling, puppet theatre, music and film. And children will be fantastically entertained at a special Widdershins Fairy Party,

Widdershins at Green Hill Arts, Moretonhampstead is open every day except Mondays from Saturday 22 June - Wednesday 7 August, 10am-4pm. Admission is free
