The Lost Sound a cappella, mixed voice chorus performs a varied programme of traditional and new folk music, in rich 4 – 8 part harmony. Songs that have inspired centuries of singers, now inspire this choir too, with new harmonies, textures, colours and interpretations. Using the best modern choral skills and finding exciting contemporary arrangements, The Lost Sound breathes new life into these wonderful songs.
They are not a classical choir – but they are finding ways to meld the traditions of choral singing and folk singing together.
They have also developed a unique relationship with composer, Chris Hoban, who also writes for Show of Hands.
He wrote ‘Lily and the Rose’ specifically for Miranda Sykes and the choir for the Somme centenary concert at Exeter Cathedral and he specially arranged his song ‘The Padre’ for the choir. It is a great pleasure that he will be joining the chorus for performances this summer at St Michaels Church Chagford on the 13th May.
Performances of The Lost Sound include supporting Show Of Hands at the Royal Albert Hall on their 25th anniversary concert (Easter 2017) and they featured on the SOH live ‘Centenary’ album. (July 2016)
The commitment, joy and sheer passion in The Lost Sound’s singing, have deeply moved audiences and fellow performers, alike.
