 Chagford Filmmaking is a Hit!

Chagford Filmmaking is a Hit!

Elizabeth Jane Baldry, founder of Chagford Filmmaking group, has been selected by the Directors Guild of Great Britain for special training and mentoring.

The prestigious scheme - funded by the British Film
Institute and Creative Skillset - aims to bring sixteen talented directors from
across England for a week's training in London with Simon Phillips, a direction
coach who works with feature film and high level TV directors, including Oscar
and EMMY award winning writers, directors and producers.

Elizabeth-Jane Baldry - a mother of two and a professional
harpist and composer - said: "When I made my first film ten years ago
because my kids were bored in the summer holidays, I could never have guessed
where it would lead! I am completely amazed and delighted that Chagford
Filmmaking Group's quirky little films of British fairytales have been
recognised in this way. We've now made nine films including two feature films,
all of them filmed against the backdrop of Dartmoor's magical granite
landscape. It's really gratifying to know that some people are now visiting
Chagford specifically to see where 'the fairy films' are made. Raising
awareness of this vibrant community is a major motivation for my
filmmaking."

Chagford is fast becoming the 'Hollywood' of Devon. It is
the home of several well-known film industry professionals, including Alan Lee
who won an Oscar for his concept design on Lord of the Rings and BAFTA
nominated film director Billy o'Brien. Additionally, the 2014 Chagford Film
Festival runs 22nd-27th September with an impressive line-up of workshops and
screenings.
